Full Screen start menu

The default size of the Windows 10 Start Menu is large enough to display all pinned items. If you prefer a larger Start menu, it is possible to open the Start menu in full-screen mode.

If full-screen mode has been enabled, the Start screen will overlay your entire desktop. This will give you more space to pin applications and allow for larger live tiles.

These steps will enable Start full-screen mode.

  1. To open Windows 10 Settings, click on the Start Menu and then click the Settings cog ( [ ] ).
  2. After the Settings are open, click Personalization then Start.
  3. Look for the setting ‘Use Start fullscreen‘ in the Start settings and click the toggle to activate the feature as shown below.

      1. Now you can close the Start Settings screen.

Once you have turned on Start full-screen mode, click the Start button to display the Start menu in full screen. It will overlay the entire desktop.

Start can be closed in full-screen mode by pressing the Escape key or clicking on another program.

Follow these steps to disable Start full-screen mode. However, this time, disable the “Use Start Full Screen” setting.
